Operation GameCity6

GC6 is an interactive transmedia performance that played out over 4 days during GameCity6 (26-29th October 2011) on the streets of Nottingham.

The work investigates some of the social changes brought about by mobile devices, persistent access to the Internet and location aware technologies.

The audience consisted of over 100 Agents we recruited to be in and around Nottingham city centre for about an hour each day throughout GameCity6.

To start the performance the audience filled in an application form at the Covernomics recruitment desk. Giving details such as their real name, how long they can hold their breath, mobile phone number and email address. They then choose a code name and are set their first assignment, to meet with a contact in one of several nearby locations, identified only by GPS coordinates.

Further assignments were then delivered via email the evening before they were to be completed. Agents were tasked with completing at least one Covernomics assignment each day to advance the narrative. Pr- registered Agents were also given the opportunity to complete some optional training assignments before the start of Operation GC6 to assess their aptitude for advanced covert operations.
